Downsizing By Design

 I recently had the experience of downsizing myself, to a smaller home. As an interior designer, I was able to create a floor plan that indicated the placement for most of my furniture. I was also able to calculate where the existing lamps, pictures, and window treatments could be placed. from my existing home to the new one. Everything was coded numerically on the plan for the proper placement. I was able to incorporate my traditional furniture with the existing light fixtures and barn wood paneling in the new home that were more contemporary. By changing certain accessories, I was able to blend all the elements together.

. Please see below on how we can assist you in the move.

1.  Visit you home to take an inventory of your furnishings.

2.  Provide a floor plan showing the furniture placed on the plan.

3..  On the day of the move we work with the movers as they are off loading the truck to show the proper                 placement of the items.

4..   When the furnishings are in place, we assist with the hanging of the pictures, lamps, and accessories.

5.    If necessary we can supplement items such as window coverings, rugs, and additional furniture and                  select items online, and or work with the process of custom window treatments, carpeting, etc.

6.     Make recommendations for carpenters, electricians, plumbers, and painters as well as selecting paint             colors either before the move or after.

7..      We can provide the drawings for remodeling kitchens and bathrooms as well as contact the contractors           for you.

8.   Also, we provide selections for tile, plumbing fixtures, kitchen cabinets and countertops.

9.   We are knowledgeable in Universal Design and Aging in Place.

10.  We work with your family to achieve peace of mind!

     I can recommend Marta wholeheartedly! We decided to sell our big house in Alexandria after 40 years to downsize and spend more time at our Wintergreen home. Marta was really good at helping us to organize and focus throughout the process and decide what furniture and and possessions would be coming down to Wintergreen., which would be sold, donated, and kept. She worked with the movers, advising where everything would go. Then she arranged for additional help to assist with the unpacking. Marta also has a keen eye for arranging furniture too!
